A static QR code costs us nothing to make. The image is generated by your own browser using open QR standards, and the destination is encoded inside the picture. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored and no server answers the scan. There is no running cost to recover, so there is nothing to charge for.

What does cost money is the redirect service behind dynamic codes: answering every scan, forever, and keeping the statistics. That is what Pro pays for.

The one thing that needs an account

Dynamic codes — the kind whose destination you can change after printing — need an account, because there has to be somewhere to store the destination and somewhere to point the short link.

Each account gets one dynamic code free, with no card required. Beyond that, Pro is $9 a month or $69 a year for unlimited dynamic codes, scan analytics, PDF export and print frames.

An account also gives you somewhere to save static designs, but you never need one to make or download a static code.

No watermark, no catch, no bait and switch

The codes you download carry nothing of ours. There is no small logo in the corner, no branded landing page between the scan and the destination, and no message that appears later asking the person scanning to upgrade.

Because static codes never contact us, we could not change how they behave even if we wanted to. That is the whole point.
